The Neurology Department Welcomes Dr. Hiba Haider

We are pleased to announce that Hiba Haider MD, FACNS, FAES has joined the Department of Neurology at University of Chicago. She is a neurologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of adult patients with epilepsy. She will be joining UChicago as Associate Professor of Neurology in the Epilepsy Section and Director of the Critical Care EEG Monitoring Service.

Dr. Haider received her medical degree from the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her neurology residency and clinical neurophysiology (epilepsy) fellowship at the Emory University School of Medicine, where she remained on faculty for 5 years before moving to Chicago.

Her academic interests include implementation science and QI in status epilepticus and their impact on clinical outcomes. She has been recognized for her multidisciplinary work in organizing, standardizing, and implementing institutional seizure management protocols and the use of functional connectivity as a biomarker for neurocognitive outcomes in acute brain injury and new onset refractory status epilepticus (NORSE).

Dr. Haider has chaired, directed, and lectured at national or international epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology meetings and serves on Council for the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. She is also the co-editor of the first-ever Handbook of ICU EEG and has numerous original publications on the topic of epilepsy.
