The Department of Neurology’s education mission is to train learners of all levels in the fundamentals and practice of clinical neurology, and in the undergirding principles of neuroscience, promoting their growth as physicians and scientists who can contribute to new knowledge in clinical neurology and neuroscience, and who can go on to be the teachers of future generations.
Trainees extend from undergraduate students in the college of the University of Chicago to medical students and residents, and to physician fellows and post-graduate scientists training in laboratories within the department. Neurology faculty members teach courses in the college, the medical school, and graduate programs. Students of the Pritzker School of Medicine rotate through clinical training in the required Neurology Clerkship. In the highly-ranked Neurology Residency program, residents receive intensive clinical and didactic training in neurology. Finally, multiple clinical and research fellowship training programs are offered by the Department of Neurology.
