- We offer a total of five adult neurology residency positions per year.
- We have successfully filled all of our available positions for 2009.
- We have successfully filled all of our available positions for 2010.
- You must apply to our program using ERAS. We utilize the
NRMP for the match process. Please watch their websites for pertinent dates.
Our deadline for receipt of applications is December 15, 2009. Applications received through
ERAS after that date will not be reviewed. We will begin
interviews no sooner than December, 2009.
- An ACGME-approved Internal Medicine internship in the United States is a necessary prerequisite for consideration in
our residency program. A residency in Family Medicine is not an adequate substitute – you must complete a one year internship
in Internal Medicine in order to qualify.
- The University of Chicago Medical Center Neurology Residency Program is now offering a joint arrangement for the PGY-1
preliminary year with
The University of Chicago Medical Center Department of Internal Medicine,
Evanston Hospital Department of Internal Medicine and also with
Weiss Hospital Department of Internal Medicine. Interested applicants
must apply to these preliminary program separately via ERAS. The joint arrangment with these internal medicine programs should
not be viewed as a guarantee that candidates will be offered a preliminary position in one of these programs. Interested
applicants must complete a separate interview process (if interested) with these programs.
- If you have already completed your PGY-1 preliminary year at the time of your application, you should provide us with
letters of reference from that program.
- We do have international medical graduates in the program, but we do not make a percentage available.
- We accept only J1 and H1-B visas. However, H1-B visas must be in place prior to beginning with our program. If you are
in the process of converting your visa, your preliminary (PGY-1 level) program must coordinate the conversion.
- We do not advertise our USMLE score criteria.
- We do accept applications from D.O. candidates, but you must include your COMLEX scores (if you have also taken the
USMLE, you must submit the COMLEX and the USMLE).
- Graduates of our residency program are encouraged to apply for fellowship positions at the University of Chicago after
completion of residency. We offer fellowships in Clinical Neurophysiology, NeuroCritical Care, Movement Disorders, Multiple
Sclerosis, and Neuro-Oncology.
- U.S. Clinical experience is helpful but we will review applications from candidates who do not have U.S. clinical
experience.
