Neurology Residency - Curriculum

An annual schedule is prepared prior to the start of each academic year. Residents are required to participate in each of the blocks listed below.

  1. PGY-II Residents
    • 16 two-week blocks of adult floor (junior)
    • 2 two-week blocks of pediatric neurology (inpatient service)
    • 2 two-week blocks of neurocritical care unit
    • 2 two-week blocks of adult consults
    • 2 two-week blocks of neuroradiology
    • 2 two-week blocks of vacation

  2. PGY-III Residents
    • 4 two-week blocks of pediatric neurology (inpatient service)
    • 2 two-week blocks of pediatric neurology (outpatient clinic)
    • 4 two-week blocks of neurocritical care unit
    • 4 two-week blocks of adult consults
    • 4 two-week blocks of electroencephalography*
    • 4 two-week blocks of electromyography*
    • 2-6 two-week blocks of elective*
    • 2 two-week blocks of vacation

    *The EEG and EMG rotations can be reduced to 2 two-week blocks each and the remaining two-week blocks can be used as additional elective time.

  3. PGY-IV Residents
    • 5 two-week blocks of adult floor (senior)
    • 5 two-week blocks of adult outpatient urgent-care clinic
    • 4 two-week blocks of neuropathology
    • 2 two-week blocks of psychiatry
    • 8 two-week blocks of elective
    • 2 two-week blocks of vacation
