Visiting Medical Student
Fourth year medical students from schools accredited by the Liaison Committee
on Medical Education (LCME) may participate in
Visiting
Student Electives offered at The
University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Visiting students may participate in fourth year electives only. Most
rotations are four weeks long and begin the first Monday of the month unless otherwise arranged by the Department
Coordinator. Visiting students may stay for eight weeks without charge. To apply for a visiting medical student elective
contact The Office of Medical Education.
Visiting Educator
Visiting Educators include a person who holds a valid medical license in another state or country, who is a recognized
teacher or scholar in his/her field and who will be present at the Hospitals to teach and observe for a period of 5 days

Visiting Clinical Observer
Visiting Clinical Observers (in Residence) include a person who holds a valid medical license in another state or country,
who has the proper credentials to come to the Hospitals for a period of observation and training and who will be present at
the Hospitals for a period of more than 5 business days. A visiting clinical observer in residence is limited to a period
of six months. Interested parties must contact a faculty member in the Department of Neurology and ask that faculty member
to agree to sponsor your visit. We cannot make a recommendation regarding which faculty member should be contacted. Visiting
Clinical Observers will be required to pay for any costs associated with this observership; neither the Department of
Neurology or the faculty member sponsoring the visit will cover these expenses. For further information please contact Catherine Ward PHR.
Visiting Resident Observer
Visiting Resident Observers include a person who is enrolled in a Residency Training Program at another institution and who
has the proper credentials to come to the Hospitals for a period of observation and training, not to exceed 30 days. For
