Neurology Sub-I Experience
Course Overview
This is a full-time one month course (150 credits) in which intensive experience in clinical neurology is provided.
Emphasis is placed on performing complete neurological examinations, localizing lesions, planning diagnostic tests and
formulating treatment plans. The student will function as a full member of the inpatient team and participate in treatment
decisions and follow-up care. They are expected to present one or more cases to the ward team. There will be opportunity to
review diagnostic tests in neurology (including EEG, EMG, evoked potentials, sleep studies, neuroimaging studies).
Ambulatory neurology experience will be provided in the morning sessions of the outpatient clinics. Attendance at daily
morning report and at didactic teaching sessions, grand rounds, neuroradiology, neuropathology, pediatric neurology and
neurology research conferences is expected to bridge basic and clinical aspects of neuroscience.

To give students a working knowledge of the diagnosis and management of neurological disorders.
Evaluation of Performance
- Clinical skills – history and neurological exam, localization of lesions, differential diagnosis;
- Diagnostic work-up; and
- Management of neurological disorders.
